Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is a holiday where you give thanks to everything you have in your life. (: It's one of my favorite holidays because we get to eat a lot and we get off school for more than a week, that's always good. The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is truly the most exciting thing I look forward to on Thanksgiving. It always gets me ready for the big day ahead of me and it's a truly amazing event that is held in New York each year. Every thanksgiving is held at my house. My aunt and uncle travel 150 miles to celebrate this holiday with us each year. While the boys are out deer hunting, my mom, sister, and I cook the food. We always watch whatever football game that is on and just have a lot of fun. We have a bunch of food at the table each year like turkey, potatoes, apple pie, vanilla pudding, and corn cake. The day after Thanksgiving is Black Friday. Black Friday is an all day event starting at 4 am in the morning or early and people go into stores with HUGE deals to get a lot of their Christmas shopping done for their family. I have never gotten to go in the past with my mom, but now that I have a job and can buy presents I get to go this year and I am super excited! The main reason why I love Thanksgiving is because you just get to cherish everything you have in your life. Everyone should be thankful for whatever they have in their life. Nobody should take for granted the people or things that they have in their life. Give thanks this Thanksgiving by saying thank you to your mom when she cooks the food or thank you to your dad when he is putting up the Christmas lights. A thank you can go a long way, it honestly makes someone’s day. So what are you going to give thanks to this Thanksgiving? What do you think about Thanksgiving? What are some of your family’s traditions? I would love to hear them. Thanks. (:

Snow

While some people like other people hate snow. I happen to be one of those guys that like snow sometimes and sometimes not. I like it because I like the way it looks when it is coming down from the sky. I also like it because I can go out side and play in it when we get the days off from school when the roads are really bad. There are some things that I hate about the snow though like it always makes the roads really bad when I have somewhere to go. It would be awesome if snow could just fall without it being so cold. That would be really nice. What are some of your feelings about snow? I would like to hear them. You never know we might have something in common.

What is it? #8

Try and guess what this is! I wish you the best of luck guys! (: hint: Most of us use it everyday!

Animal of Week #7: Flamingo

You can see flamingos in your local zoo or even in many storybooks. Have you ever wondered why flamingos are pink? Well, a flamingo's pink or reddish feather color comes from its diet, which is high in alpha. Isn't that just strange? I have always wondered that so, I thought I would share that if you were also wondering. Flamingos are very interesting animals they are so talented that they can stand on only one foot. They seem like very gentles animals and which they are to people. There are 5 species of flamingos that occur throughout the world. The greater flamingo is as tall as a grown-up person is. The lesser flamingo is as tall as a first-grader.
The five species are:
- Caribbean Flamingo
- Greater Flamingo
- Chilean Flamingo
- Lesser Flamingo
- Andean Flamingo
- James Flamingo
Where do Flamingos live?
Flamingos live in lagoons, or lakes, where there is lots of mud and water. Flamingos use many of habitats: swamps, tidal flats, and sandy islands. The depth of the water is especially important not only for feeding, but for nesting.
What do they eat?
The typical flamingo diet consists of seeds, blue-green algae, and mollusks they filter out of the water. Using their long legs and partially webbed feet, flamingos will stamp on the muddy bottom of lagoons to mix the food particles with the water. Different species of flamingo have slightly different shaped bills; the different shapes helping it obtain slightly different types of food. Flamingos drink fresh water always.

I think flamingos are very awesome animals and they catch my eye every time I go to the zoo. I hope they never become extinct. That would be very sad if they did. Well what do you think of flamingos? Comment below and tell me! Enjoy (:

The Music Influence On People's Lives

Music is a big part of peoples life. We all listen to it sometime or another. Most people listen to it when they drive or are working. It seems like everywhere you are, there is music playing in the background. People always talk about the newest songs out. I think music makes my day a lot better and makes it go by faster. I think most genres are good because it all has a meaning that means something nice or good. If it didn't mean something or the singer did not want to state a point, then the song just would not be a song. That's what I like about music. It just is nice to have in our lives. Do you think it makes your day go by faster? Do you like to listen to music to it while you do stuff? If you do, what kind of music do you listen to? Let me know your thoughts about music and how it effects your day.

Quote of the Week #7

" If you think you can, you can. And if you think you can't, you're right. "
- Mary Kay Ash

believe_in_yourself-1
Look at this quote. What do you think this means? I think it means that whatever your mind set is when you are doing something, is how you perform the action. What I mean by this is, if you do something with the mind set that you aren't going to do it right or that you can't, you won't be able to. If you go in thinking and believing that you can and will, then that's exactly what will happen. Always try to stay positive and not negative because your thoughts can really affect you. Be like the train and say, " I think I can. I think I can. " If you do, then you will. Believe in yourself and show it by your thoughts and the words that you say.
