Daddy
Daddy taught me not to lie
But daddy still did it
Until the day he died
Yet, he did it every day
Little by little every day
One day, I begged daddy not to go
It didn’t stop him from waving goodbye
And telling me he loves me so
Momma didn’t have the strength, I suppose
To go on living life this way
Because of all the decisions he chose
Because of all the decisions he chose
She was unmovable
And had no words to say
You’d think I’d hate my life
I wish I could prove you wrong
It was filled with determination and strife
My life’s a mystery on its own
No, it’s not a fairytaleBut it’s over now; I have grown
